Start of a new week
Started my today with a shitty breakfast. The food here TRULY sucks. It might actually make me lose my weight tbh.
Today was the beginning of "training", but it was just one of the wardens, or officers as we call them here, and he just talked about some of the rules when working and stuff. The projector was broken because the HDMI cable was busted but one of the Alt Service guys came and got a new one. So after that we watched some safety videos.... twice. Once before lunch and AGAIN after lunch. The same exact videos.
There was also a small private interview with the officer. He asked me about my health conditions and my bipolar thing, and told me I can take special early trips to the outside if I wanna go to the hospital. He also said that he would consider my health conditions when assigning me to a post, so that's pretty lucky of me. I hope I get one of the easier ones.
But it's not too good for me to do easy work. The two most difficult departments, cafeteria and night duty(security), actually give you extra special "points." 10 points mean more vacation days and more at 20. And most importantly for me, I need 3 points minimum for an overseas trip, and 7 for a second trip. So I will need to rank up those points if I wanna see Serena.
There are a few ways to get points, but the most common ways are to study and earn national certifications. So I need to study which I don't like doing. I could also be the room lifestyle leader again, or become a representative. Or I can just do cafeteria or security works - which I'll probably have to do at least once each during the 3 years, because it changes every 6 months. I think each of them give you 3 points... so I can get ahead on the first trip. I would still need 1 more point after having done both duties, so I might go for an easy Excel certification or something.
I didn't think there would be a points system and that I'd need to pay attention to it if I wanted to go abroad. That makes things slightly more difficult... But 3 years is a long time. I'm sure I'll be able to rank up some points one way or the other.
So yesterday nobody bought me that chicken sandwich. So today I ordered some. I thought delivery would come all the way to the building where the Alt service guys live in... but delivery guys aren't allowed in the detention centre. So I had to walk all the way to the front gate, which took... 10? 15? minutes. I gotta say, ignoring how much it costs, this is the real deterrent to ordering stuff to eat.
I'm sure I won't be ordering delivery a whole lot once I can go outside, anyway. It's just for now right now. But I did get a chicken sandwich from Lotteria! Yay~
I also got my stuff from Coupang. Shampoo, body wash, cleansing gel, and most importantly my COFFEE!!!! There is also a refrigerator at the cafeteria and it's communal for each room. There was room for my pack of 30 cans so I just shoved it in there. Then I took a shower with the new shampoo and stuff. The cleansing form gel thing really stung all over my face. But my mom says it'll be good for my acne problem so that's fine by me. My acne problem is getting REALLY bad.
You know what would really fix my acne issue? Estrogen. Lmao.
Tomorrow is election day so it is a holiday meaning we don't do anything. I'll just talk to Serena some more. I didn't get to talk to her a whole bunch today but she seemed really sad. She seems really sad and bored every day and I wish things could get better for her sooner. I just want her to be happy. I also miss her a lot in general. And I miss her journal entries... I like reading them hehe.
Tomorrow a new president will be elected! Most likely Lee Jae-myoung from the Democratic Party. I will talk about him and this election a bit more tomorrow, I'll save it for then so I have more to write tomorrow since I won't have much to talk about. But hopefully he will be more positive on the alternative service then Yoon was. Who knows, he might even shorten the length.
I've been listening to my "Fallout playlist" which actually also includes some songs from Bioshock. I've had an obsession with American traditional pop music from the 1960s ever since I played Fallout and Bioshock when I was a little kid. A little known influence to Cecily music.
